Problem
The problem of evil in philosophy of religion centers around this question, namely, "Why does a loving and powerful G-d allow evil and suffering?" This typical type of question frames or organizes the problem of evil in religion between two antagonistic worldview positions: (i) Monotheism versus (ii) Atheism. But Religious Studies challenges this fuzzy, default way of dealing with the above question. Thus, the second essay question will answer this specific question: How does Religious Studies challenge the way the problem of evil is framed when positioned against these two views: monotheism versus atheism?
