Do you feel corporal punishment is an appropriate means of behavior management in schools?

I don't think that corporal punishment is an appropriate means of behavior management within a classroom. Children need structure within the classroom and guidance, use corporal punishment doesn't do that. Yes, if students have a hard times learning or listening it may be something more going on with them and putting corporal punishment in it won't help. It may make the students not want to listen or work with you in the class.

How does corporal punishment impact a child's psychological development?

I Think That A Child Whom Has Had Corporal Punishment Is Impacted Greatly with their psychological development. They see that if they don't listen then this will happen and so would say the way that students or children are these days it would teach them a lesson. I disagree I have four children and yes they don't always listen but my children know how to give respect to adults. I think this would hurt a student to want to go and work or ask any other teacher for help if they needed it.
Do the ends justify the means?

Yes, when it comes to have a classroom have good classroom management, yes have to work well will the students. Have them come up with the rules with you on the first week of school and also come up with the what will happen if you don't fellow the rules. This will help build your classroom and the behavior management needed.

How does corporal punishment align with any of the management models presented in our text?

I think that skinner's management would somewhat align with corporal punishment. There are some things that are different but when you read and see it this is the one that models corporal punishment. His four steps to work to eliminate any behavior within the classroom is a way of corporal management.

I have chosen Marland's Caring Model, with this I have seen that the way help wants to show students that caring for them will help them learn and listen within the classroom to be the most effective way. In my classroom I would like to use this way of behavior management. Working with the students and letting them know that I am here for them as a teacher, I think will help them understand that I will can help them learn and work to succeed.

Do you feel corporal punishment is an appropriate means of behavior management in schools? Why or why not? This is actually what I did my final research paper on in my last class. I am not totally against corporal punishment within the school system. However with today's society and the means of you not knowing the person's intention on why they're doing it then I have a problem with. I grew up in a school where we received spankings all the way up to Middle School. I feel like it helped us as individuals because there were none of us bringing guns and trying to shoot up our schools as well as students were not trying to fight their teachers. However, the students are protected by the government and they feel as though if you touch me then you're going to jail and I feel as though some students take advantage of that with teachers may not necessarily be with their parents but it can cause problems If the parents are not willing to cooperate with the teachers to help correct the behavior.

How does corporal punishment impact a child's psychological development? Do the ends justify the means? The children's psychological development could be affected depending on their environment. If they are used to being abused every single day it could cause major problems that causes them to act out or "snap".

How does corporal punishment align with any of the management models presented in our text? Be sure to provide reasoning for your response. B.F. Skinner behavior modification aligns more with corporal punishment. Because the children are learning to control themselves and be responsible for their own actions. It deals with correction of the behavior or when a student is acting out.
