In Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen exploits the contrast between the Dashwood sisters to great effect. She amplifies the contrast in her treatment of the Ferrar brothers, but she also moves Eleanor and Marianne into greater affinity with one another over the course of the novel. How does Austen orchestrate the sisters' relation to arrive at the complex sentence with which the novel concludes? Use two episodes of your choice from the novel to illustrate how Austen manages to produce and /or critique the harmonious effects of their marriages.
