2. This chapter discusses a need for the counselor to be aware of how cultural backgrounds affect their worldviews. Looking at your own cultural background, how do you think it might affect your approach to someone of a different culture?
3. The chapter talked about evidenced-based practice as "approaches to prevention or treatment that are validated by some form of documented scientific evidence ... (and) stand in contrast to approaches that are based on tradition, convention, belief, or anecdotal evidence" (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2017b). How does using evidenced base practice help the professional make decisions that are in the best interest of the client? Does the professional need to always use evidence-based procedures only, or can they use other treatment methods that have been shown to work in the past but just are not validated yet?
