Instructions:
Imagine your group as a collection of like-minded social entrepreneurs who aspire and passionate about creating flexible and safe spaces for your local community. Your group believes that it is good to first learn from some recent past endeavors by local social entrepreneurs on similar flexible spaces for a local community - before finalizing and setting up your own pilot social enterprise. Your group chanced upon the ‘Hatch Ptbo' social enterprise and started reviewing the case study (refer Case Study in Appendix A). Upon reading the case study, your group believe that there are a lot of good ideas that your group can learn and adopt from it. However, at the same time, your group also see different possible alternatives in certain aspects of your pilot social enterprise set-up and operations.
As a group, discuss and propose what aspects of Hatch Ptbo that your group feel is suitable for your upcoming social enterprise endeavour on creating new flexible and/or safe spaces within your local community. Also, discuss and propose what other aspects of Hatch Ptbo your group would like to change to suit your own group's aspiration and vision for your local community. Please provide rationale/reason to argue critically why certain aspects of Hatch Ptbo is retained, and why certain aspects of Hatch Ptbo are changed, by your group.
Your Group Proposal on the above social business within a social enterprise should, at the minimum, cover the following discussion areas - in relation to the Hatch Ptbo case study:
• Enlist the vision and mission for your pilot social enterprise. What specific societal need(s) or problem(s) the pilot social enterprise is trying to address for the local PTBO community?
• Ensure relevant and adequate resources (innovation, capital, entrepreneurship - ICE) are identified, justified, secured, and utilized, during the transformational stage in realizing the social values. Identify the key ICE resources needed and provide a two-year plan on how to secure and utilize these resources for your social business within your social enterprise.
• Ensure the benefits of the better new state of equilibrium of the system are channeled to the targeted segment(s) of the social community. How do you know the benefits of your social business are being channeled to the intended/targeted people within the community? Suggest one or more metrics to capture or assess such information within the social business.
• Encourage scaling up of social entrepreneurship model outside the social community. What are the potentials of scaling up the pilot social enterprise beyond your local community - to other cities? What are some of the key concerns on scaling up this pilot social enterprise?
