How do you keep your supporters up to date about your work

Problem

1) Why MCRC was formed. The "why" is often what MCRC organizational values and mission are based on. It explains the problem that existed and the strategic steps your company took to solve it.

2) An overview of the founders. Providing brief biographies of the founders gives your organization character and sets the timeline for the foundation of the company.

3) Values the organization was founded on. Clearly emphasizing the values that the organization was founded on helps establish your organization's brand and define what you're looking for in potential employees.

4) Key events in the organization's existence. Landmark events that altered the trajectory of your organization and set the organization up for success should be the bulk of your organizational history.

5) Other notable organizational events. Outside of key events, any notable event that exemplifies the organizational culture or values should be included in your organization's history.

Programs and goals:

Asking a few questions about the work you do....

1) What's your most successful program and why? Give me your best example of the way you've seen your organization's work make a difference?

2) What are areas of opportunity for your organization? What could you do better?

3) Do you have a strategic plan? What key things are you trying to accomplish in that plan?

4) Is there anything that you wish more people knew about your organization or the issues you are trying to solve?

5) How do you measure and report on the effectiveness of your programs? Do you have any plans to change or improve your evaluation process?

6) What are the main obstacles that stand between you and your mission, and how do you plan to overcome them?

Resourcing and opportunities:

Understand how you are funded and what your greatest needs are:

1) What is your staff really good at? What are the gaps?

2) Where does most of your funding come from? What percentage of your budget comes from private donations, and what do private donations help you to do that your other sources of funding don't cover?

3) What are your most urgent needs?

4) What would make the greatest difference in helping your organization get better at what it does?

Engaging supporters:

How you involve your supporters:

1) If I wanted to get to know the organization better, what are the best ways to learn more?

2) How do you keep your supporters up to date about your work?

3) How do you work with peers who address similar issues?

4) How do you mobilize others around your mission?
