Problem
How do you feel about budgeting? There are two examples Down below which one do you agree with and which one you don't agree with and why?
Example I: "Dale " : I believe a budget is very good I myself have a lot of problems with budgeting. When I get my check I pay all my bills first. I don't pay myself first or I would not have the money for my bills. The little money that I make is all on bills. I guess I have a little bit of a budget. I pay my bills first and then I try to save the little money I have left. Then I will pay myself . I don't believe in paying yourself first . You have to look at everything you have to pay first how can you pay yourself first and not knowing what you have to pay first? Myself I have kinda of a log book to do my budgeting I write down every thing I owe a pay them as soon as the bills come in. This way I mark them off as I pay them. So you see I don't believe paying yourself should be first. I think it's all about budgeting your money first. I really wish I had the income to pay me first and not worry about the bills first.
Example II: "Amanda" : There are so many reasons that creating a budget is useful. In my own perspective I feel I can do better with my budget so I can save more and invest more for the future. It makes sense to use a savings certificate and even purchase bonds. I don't feel very comfortable with the stock market but I have dabbled a little. I can see where people are able to make money and I also can see the high risk in a lot of circumstance. Savings is most important to secure and I plan to take a much more aggressive approach to pay myself first. I didn't know the bigger purpose to paying myself first before I took these lessons this week. It's also very interesting to me to learn about how to properly budget using credit cards. Part of my game plan to paying off some cards is to assign them a purpose and only use what I intend to pay each month from now on. For the first few months I will have to pay a little extra just to get it back down to 0-5% balance but that will be a great place to start letting my money work for me and build up my credit again. This class has been an amazing and eye opening one. I have been experimenting with these lessons in my own finances and it is really exciting to see the plan coming together.
