The nuclear family structure is normalized as a typical family within Western society, though the concept of family among other cultures differs" (Tam et al., 2017, p. 244). Srivastava (2019) explores four factors influencing the definition of families within Indigenous cultures. How do you conceptualize family based on your culture? What additional factors do you think influence the definitions of families in general? Do you think there should be a standard working definition of family that all nurses use as part of their practice?
