How do we understand the concept of sustainability

Q1. How do we understand the concept of "sustainability"? When evaluating countries, in addition to the economic, financial aspects (e.g., GDP), what other aspects do you believe are also important (e.g., environment protection, individual happiness)?

Q2. Consider the following moral dilemma: you are riding in a trolley without functioning brakes, headed toward a switch in the tracks. On the current track stand five people who stand to be killed if the trolley continues on its path. You have access to a switch that would make the trolley change to the other track, but another individual stands there. That person is certain to be killed if the switch is activated. In sum, if you do switch the tracks, the trolley would kill only 1 person, if you don't, the trolley would kill 5 persons. What would you choose? What would moral utilitarianism vs. moral deontology say about this situation?
