Written Assignment - Sketch of a Writer
Write a brief sketch of one of the women. Be sure to include what you believe this writer contributed to the literary movement of the time.
The woman I will like to discuss is about Zora Neale Hurston.
Consider the following questions:
1. How do the stories about women this week compare to some of the stories about men that we have discussed in the course so far?
2. What sorts of experiences seem to have been commonly assigned to women in 20th Century fiction and non-fiction?
3. Do you think the gender of the author influenced any of the choices he or she made?
These are questions that we must ask ourselves as we encounter certain kinds of literature.
