How do I answer this statement? Three products at my local store that are only available by global trade are chocolate, avocados, and most types of fish. All three are trendy products eaten quite often by the people in my community. If something were to disrupt the global trade of these three products, it would not be a dire situation, but many people would be troubled. Global trade interruptions would tremendously hurt chocolate since it is tough to grow in the United States. Only a tiny area of the country is capable of increasing it. There are many reasons that avocados are imported from Mexico, but mostly because Americans prefer the Hass avocado, which is the type produced in Mexico. On top of this, the United States cannot keep up with the demand for avocados which has grown tremendously in the last few years. Lastly, fish is imported in high numbers from China because we can't keep up with the demand for fish in the United States. We would have very high fish prices if there were an interruption in global trade.
