Since the so-called digital revolution, virtual reality has significantly impacted and been incorporated into our daily lives. The culture that this latter conveys can include violent and discriminatory ideals that are truly harmful to our wellbeing, such as racialized beauty ideals that favor Eurocentric features over Afrocentric features, body commodity status, and ideals of perfection and personal success.
In the article it says "Even knowing how 'perfect bodies' on instagram and social media platforms are often highly edited and manipulated we consume a normative and standardized (visual) beauty products and lifestyle and equally expose images of our bodies to followers, thus turning ourselves into consumable objects of others' voyeuristic gaze."
