Directions: After reading Chapter 3 of your textbook, use the following table and questions for your Worksheet Assignment.

Step I: Consider the attitude that you yourself, your parents, and your grandparents might take (or have taken) toward the relationships listed in the top row between you and a member of a specific racial-ethnic group, or just a different group. Write the name of the group or just "a different group" in the blank above the table.

Step II: Write down comments reflecting the attitudes of each family member for each situation, or just mark an X in each spot where disapproval is likely or has occurred. Table: Your Relationship with a Member of Group Would anyone disapprove?

B. How did the views of your family members differ across the generations?

D. Try to explain the pattern you find. How might different theoretical traditions explain the concept of social distance?

E. Consider your findings from a functional, a conflict-theorist, and a feminist perspective.

F. Consider how your answers might differ if the relationship.
