Citing evidence from readings and lectures, discuss the advantages held by the Union over the Confederacy at the outset of the Civil War. How did the leaders of the Confederacy inspire their citizens to support the war effort and join the CSA military? Did either or both sides utilize the nation's history in their appeals to their respective citizenry?
