I. Transparent Health: Lewis Blackman Story

In this first of four discussion boards, you will watch the video titled, "Transparent Health - Lewis Blackman Story. In this video, two issues in health care will be addressed: (i) prevention of medical errors and (ii) how we the care givers respond when our care has caused harm to one of our patients.

After viewing this video, you and your nurse colleagues are to discuss the following:

i. How did the health care system fail Lewis and his family?

ii. What can we, as nurse leaders, learn from the Lewis Blackman Story?

iii. As a health care leader, describe strategies/approaches to effectively address medical errors as described in this story about Lewis Blackman, e.g. teamwork and communication.

II. Reflective Journal
