Problem
Need to violate a social norm and then describe the experience in a discussion. The norm violation is NOT illegal but rather goes against the societally prescribed rules for acceptable behavior.
Here are a few acceptable examples from past students:
o buy a single grape from the store
o turn and face backwards in an elevator
o dress down for an event or dress up
o sit next to the only person at a table in the library
Reflecting upon the learning activities you completed in this module and the social norm that you chose to violate, respond to each of the following prompts:
i. Briefly explain to your classmates what norm you violated and give some details about your experience.
ii. How did others respond to your norm violation?
iii. How did it make you feel?
iv. Define and apply two social psychology terms or processes for your experience (social norm does NOT count). Examples: Conformity, Obedience, and Compliance.
