2. How did the Emancipation Proclamation attempt to balance attacking slavery with preserving Union control over non-Confederate slaveholding regions? Do you think Lincoln intended these divided measures regarding slavery to last?
3. The Emancipation Proclamation has often been criticized as a limited measure on Lincoln's part that did not really attempt to destroy slavery on a large scale. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
