History Essay Problem
William Cronon, in his essay "The Trouble With Wilderness", explained why he found the concept of "wilderness" problematic. Discuss and assess his thesis and then use it to show how American perceptions of wilderness evolved over the course of the 19th and early 20th centuries. In your discussion and assessment consider urban as well as non-urban spaces. How, to what extent, did images of wilderness reflect the eras in which they were constructed?
