Reflective Essay Question: How did Emmeline Pankhurst justify the use of violence in the struggle for women's suffrage? In the early twentieth century, the British government categorized as terrorism the actions of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU). Do you consider them terrorist in nature? Were they justified? How did their actions differ and how were they similar to those of terrorist groups you are familiar with?
