Anthropological projects
Project 1: Report on an indigenous group or people; 4-5 pages, double-spaced .
First, choose an indigenous group or ethnic minority (look inside your book cover; there's a map with locations of indigenous people but you are not limited to these groups). Second, do some research on this indigenous group.
Consider these questions:
Where are they located? How does the environment or geography affect this indigenous group?
How did colonialism affect this group of people? What problem or challenges does this group people have to deal with in the modern world?
What are some of their beliefs? What are some aspects of their art, dance and/or music? What is the religion of this indigenous group?
Does this group have any initiation rites? How do people in this indigenous group make a living (i.e. economy & subsistence)? Don't forget to cite your references; you should have at least 5 academic references.
Project 2: Presentation on an indigenous group or people;
Jsing the same indigenous group from Project 1, now prepare a short power point presentation (5-11 ninutes). Your presentation should have a cover or title page with your name and course details. Try this some interesting pictures or brief videos.
