Assignment: Regional Current Events (South Asia)
During the course of the semester students will present a brief talk on recent regional issue or event. Using various news sources, students are responsible for finding current events of the region to which they are assigned. The topic must be presented in a way that considers its geographic connections and implications, followed by a brief discussion based on a geography-oriented question. Application of geographic concepts and principals is required, including any relevant essential elements of geography. Students will lead one 5-7minutes presentation during the course of the semester.
Following are the requirements for this assignment:
A brief slides how designed to guide you and the class through your current event presentation and discussion, containing
A screenshot and link to the article you read
A map highlighting the featured location of the current event
Background and important information from the news story
Clear application of and reference to the essential elements of geography and other geographic concepts examined in class
A geography-oriented conclusion demonstrating geographic thinking
*Your Slideshow must be submitted to Canvas prior to the day you present.
**Try to avoid a geopolitical issue or event. Dig into the physical and human systems and see what you can find that will educate us all more deeply about the region we're studying. Educate us about the place you're focusing on.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
