Problem
Research demonstrates that students who are engaged in the higher education community are more successful academically and socially. One of the primary purposes of a student affairs department is to become community that fosters healthy engagement that leads to student success. It is the responsibility of student affairs professionals to develop a healthy community for their students.
Your proposal must include the following:
1. Analysis of the current state of the institution
2. Positive momentum that can be built upon to increase the health of the community
3. Possible threats that might hinder the health of the community and specific steps that could be employed to counteract those threats
4. Specific roles each stakeholder plays in establishing and maintaining a healthy community at the institution.
5. Explanation of how demonstrating leadership as service according to the Christian worldview might contribute to the restoration of communities and society at large.
Action items to address the following:
1. Strategies to improve the effects of professional decisions and actions on students, families, and other stakeholders within the community.
2. Collaboration between higher education professionals, external agencies, and the larger community to improve the educational environment.
