Problem:
One of the newer fields in Criminology is the study of terrorism and one of the problems can be trying to define it. A professor (me) argues that there is no such thing as terrorism because it can't be defined. Yes, he says, there are violent acts performed by members of groups with specific interests but most such actions can be described in terms of more precise terms, such as asymmetrical warfare to describe large-scale actions by groups of non-state actors, and hate crimes covering crimes perpetrated for political motives against members of minority groups.
