1) The Neiman-Marcus Cookie (recipe may be halved)
5 cups blended oatmeal
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups sugar
2 cups butter
2 tsp. soda
1 8-oz. Hershey bar, grated
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
24 oz. chocolate chips
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs
3 cups chopped nuts
Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with oatmeal, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add chocolate ships, Hershey bar, and nuts. Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Make 112 cookies.
Using this recipe and these production procedures, develop a Taguchi experiment to find the optimal process for making chocolate ship cookies. Be careful in identifying control factors, noise factors, objectives, and design the whole experiment.
