It is inevitable that such momentous technological and social changes influence how think and speak, and ultimately, how we view reality. Mary Tiles touches on one especially fruitful and topical example with the last image-complex in our reading: the computer. She seems skeptical about how accurate a picture of human rationality the image of the computer gives. However, toward the end, she qualifies her response. Do you agree with Tiles? What are some other examples of how computer technology is used in common speech (there are indeed many examples in common everyday speech.) Are there other, different images that seem more apt to you? (Feel free to try on a few different possibilities among images for yourself-is the process of reasoning, for you, more like a puzzle? A game? Ice-skating? Hunting?)
