Write a 150-word response to this statement "The collaborative leadership style is broken down into four different styles. Open hierarchical, closed hierarchical, open flat and closed flat. The choice of which style to use is not based on one being better than the other but rather what your goals as an organization or a group. Or the one that fits the problem you are trying to solve. Pisano and Verganti says that if the leader chooses the wrong style, it can delay or block innovation. Choosing the right one can greatly influence the company's leverage. Hackman believes that teams are not designed efficiently or managed well, therefore they fail. He writes that many times the members rely too much on the team. He cites that there are no defined goals, the team members roles aren't clear, they sometimes consist of too many people and lack the skills they need to contribute successfully in the group. If the leader is weak, then this causes another problem. A leader who micromanages may not bode well and one that leaves everything up to the team may find themselves failing. If I had to choose a collaborative style, it would be open hierarchical. I believe in hearing from several people and then choosing the ideas that would be most beneficial to the company.
