Question 1. This week's reading in Chapter 16 covers strategies for writing introductions and conclusions. (1) Identify an introductory technique that could be used to obtain the reader's attention and present the thesis for your final essay. Why did you select this technique? (2) What are your biggest challenges when writing a conclusion? How will you address this in your final paper?
Question 2. Revise means to see again. How can you use this to be objective when "re-seeing" and working with feedback? What strategies from Chapter 21 can help you remain objective?
Question 3. Looking at your instructor feedback on your Week 5 Draft paragraphs (be sure to open the attachment posted with the Week 5 assignment), and based on points from Chapter 23, can you identify both global (large-scale) and local (small-scale) edits you will make during revision? Explain.
Question 4. Chapter 35 discusses unnecessary, redundant, and empty words, along with wordy phrasing. Sometimes writers develop these habits without really thinking about them. Did you recognize any of your own habits when reading about these writing problems? What are some habits you need to address? Have you found examples of wordiness in your draft? Share an example and show us how you clarified your wording.
