I. Social Psychology
1) Social interactions and its effects on individual
2) Collectivism
3) Assimilates and engages in interdependence
4) Individualism
a) Focus primarily on cultural norms, self-enhancement and independence. (Greenfield, 200)
II. Normative Social Influence
1) The normative social influence involves conforming to be accepted or liked by a group
2) Conformity
a) Socially obligated to fit in.
b) Complaisant to the norms of society
III. Informational Social Influence
1. Private acceptance
a) Can lead to permanent changes in beliefs, values and behavior
b) Believes the person and or group is right, therefore will conform (Stagnor, 2012)
2. Public
a. Copy others in fear of being ridiculed or rejection if behaved otherwise.
