Ethnocentrism is a major divisive element in the world. But there are some who argue that, in addition to some of the negative consequences, there are some that are positive. Patriotism, for example, is believed by many to enhance in-group loyalty. What do you believe? Do negative consequences (such as intergroup conflict) outweigh the positive consequences? Moreover, how can we minimize our own ethnocentric views of others?
