Assignment:
The midterm project for this course will consist of your analysis of the Amanda Knox case. Please read the attached research paper and watch the 40 minute video linked ( https://youtu.be/JoKB2oOeFAI ) . After completing these two tasks write a 2 to 3 page paper discussing the following questions:
1. How did this crime happen and why were the two suspects originally convicted? What evidence was used for conviction?
2. What flawed practices led to the wrongful convictions of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito?
3. How was DNA evidence handled in this case?
4. What differences can you identify between this case being prosecuted in Italy and this case being prosecuted in the United States? Did this have any impact on the wrongful convictions?
5. How can the interactions of investigators, judges, and scientists be improved?
6. Identify another case that resulted in a wrongful conviction being overturned. What are some similarities between the case you have found and the Amanda Knox case?
