Diversity has valuable benefits for organizations; likewise, diversity can present pronounced challenges. Discrimination and stereotyping are among the possibilities. By way of example, generational diversity has been one of the most interesting challenges because each generation brings a unique set of gifts and characteristics to the workplace. The key is to encourage each generation to allow those talents and gifts to complement the other generations.

Clearly, change is a factor influencing stress in the workplace. If change is embraced, communicated, and integrated strategically, change can create healthy stress. Otherwise, change can become a distressing event.
