Institutions are an important factor to how discourses about sex/gender are produced, maintained, and transformed. The book lists 12 different ways in which institutions operate. List an institution and provide a narrative about sex/gender that is perpetuated by this institution (not from the book).
• How can institutions do violence?
• How do institutions communicate norms? Are gender norms violent?
