How can information and technology be used to communicate

Problem

Molly is a 16-year-old female who was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer that has recently metastasized to her lungs. She is admitted to the hospital and is experiencing a great deal of pain. Her mother has asked the health care personnel to limit the information shared with her. Despite the numerous questions that she asks the nurses, she has not been informed that her prognosis is poor. The unit director ensures that her parents' wishes are respected. One week later, Molly confronts the nurse and shares that she misses her friends because she has not been in school for several months. She is tired of pretending to be strong and okay. She feels that her older siblings resent her for all the time she takes away from their parents. She tells the nurse, "I want to stop these treatments because I feel so alone, and I am ready to go." She asks the nurse for the truth of exactly what is happening.
