Business Data Analytics Research
As the Internet becomes more prevalent, more data is captured and stored on the Internet. As more and more data becomes available, it became apparent that organizations and businesses need new methods and tools to process the ocean of data (big data) into useful information. With the emergence of new methods of analyzing large data sets, a new approach to analyzing data emerged. It became known as data science (or data analytics), business analytics, etc.
Students are to conduct a search through the Internet to gather informational details for the following questions/areas:
NOTE THAT ALL THE LITERTURE SOURCES MUST BE CITED IN THE BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE PAPER.
1. What is Data Science? Business Analytics? What are the differences between these terms? What skills set are required for each?
2. Some universities offer majors in Data Science and/or Business Analytics. Pick a good university for each major. Which school/college/departments offer these major? Briefly describe the content/courses required for each of these majors including the foundational courses, pre-requisite courses (if any), core skills, etc
3. How can Data Science and/or Business Analytics help a business? How can it enhance a business's key performance indicators? Discuss briefly.
4. Some reports have been published online about the top skills required over the next 5 to 10 years. Where does data science and business analytic stand? What careers or career path can a data science or business analytics major have?
5. Pick the "best" or "top" 3 Data Science or Business Analytics software that is most relevant to you or your major and briefly discuss why you think they are relevant.
Note: Students should find the websites, browse the websites, save relevant sample web pages from the website and answer the above questions.
Requirements: A paper with 5-7 pages with section headings (single-spaced, size 10 font with one inch margin all round and MUST include a Bibliography section).
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
