Problem
In 2003 the United States joined other countries in bombing Iraq which is now known as the Iraq War. Saddam Hussein was dictator who would not leave Iraq at the time and the United States was trying to end his rule.
The invasion of Iraq and the war are "truths" about Iraq and the US. The Corporal gets killed in combat in the begging of the story and that can easily be a truth about any war. The story talks about how "America is an extremist state" and is "overrun by religious intolerance." This is something that we are seeing daily in our country. People are being oppressed by others religious beliefs. When Trump became President, we started to see extremists be more vocal and act in violent ways more than ever before. The divide in our country can be compared to the two Iraqs that are discussed in the story.
