A. Maintain a sense of the intense challenges and transformations of African customs and identity slaves had to face in the New World. Taking on one or two ways their lives were so dramatically transformed, create two original poems regarding some dimension(s) of their former life, and/or what had to change through the experience of slavery.
B. Next, list the type of things you chose to include in your "poems," and explain why you chose to focus on those specific items. Be sure to speak to the relevance or significance of those factors to the slave experience.
C. What are your overall impressions about the accumulation of changes slaves had to endure and integrate once they ended up in one of the new world colonies?
D. What information could you find on how African slaves tried to gain control of their lives during the various phases of enslavement? Also, include any examples or actions they took to do so.
