How acute stress disorder is a traumatic stress reaction

Problem:

Another response: Acute stress disorder (ASD) is a traumatic stress reaction that some individuals experience due to exposure to trauma (Geoffrion et al., 2022). Similar to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), ASD is diagnosed when symptoms in four categories impact daily functioning or create distress within the first 3-30 days after the trauma. If symptoms of ASD continue past the first month, the client would be diagnosed with PTSD (Geoffrion et al., 2022; VA, 2026). Those who experience intentionally inflicted acts were more likely to experience ASD than those who experience unintentional acts, such as natural disasters. Some symptoms of ASD vary depending on the client's culture, such as dizziness or shortness of breath, as well as symptoms such as nightmares. Clients are also likely to experience symptoms such as anger, fear, sadness, or shame, and could feel emotionally overwhelmed or emotionally numb (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA], 2014). They may also have symptoms such as altered limbic system functioning, dysregulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and cortisol levels, and interference with neurotransmitters that affect pain and arousal regulation. Respond to this response saying what was good, adding info but not repeating anything already said. The response should total 100-170 words in paragraphs and include citations from Jackson-Cherry, L. R., & Erford, B. T. (2023). Need Assignment Help?
