In this module you learned about a whole range of crimes. This discussion focuses in particular on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The federal law allows the United States to criminally prosecute any organization that does business in the United States for acts of bribery committed in other countries. Watch the video below and read this article that discusses reasons why businesses should comply with the FCPA. Then respond to the following prompts.
• Explain what bribery is and how a business could benefit from engaging in bribery.
• When a business operates in a foreign country, it sometimes encounters an environment where bribery and corruption are common in business transactions. Do you think it is important for businesses to operate ethically in an environment where the government and competitors may not act ethically?
