Hot Pressing

This pressing requires application of pressure throughout sintering. In usual understanding hot pressing comprises in applying a unidirectional pressure via the assist of a plunge on a material enclosed in a rigid container. Otherwise, hydrostatic pressure that is pressure in all three directions may be applied on the material enclosed in a membrane. The material is concurrently heated. Hot pressing via both the methods produces refractory ceramic of better quality and high density.

This is a process also that requires less time. This process is more expensive than sintering and component shapes are limited.
