Horizontal component of the impulse


A bat hits a baseball of 0.145 kg. Just before impact, the ball is traveling horizontally to the right at around 50.0 m/s and it leaves the bat traveling to the left at an angle of around 30.0 degrees over the horizontal having a speed of around 65.0 m/s.

i) Determine the horizontal component of the impulse the bat passes on to the ball?

ii) Determine the vertical component of the impulse the bat passes on to the ball?

iii) When the ball and bat are in contact for around 1.75 ms, determine the horizontal component of the average force on the ball.

iv) When the ball and bat are in contact for 1.75 ms, determine the vertical component of the average force on the ball.
