Guidelines -
1. Select a country for analysis. This country should (a) be a developing country, (b) possess a recognizable tourism sector and (c) be evidently employing tourism as an agent of development. You should also select a country that is the subject of research within the tourism literature.
2. Briefly review the historical and contemporary growth of tourism in the country.
3. Identify the developmental challenges facing the country.
4. Critically appraise the potential of tourism to contribute to sustainable development in that country.
Note - Successful completion of this assignment will require wider reading in the tourism and related literature as well as access to appropriate electronic data sources (e.g. UNWTO /WTTC; UNDP; World Bank, etc.).
