Helping individuals with intellectual disabilities

Assignment Task:

Melissa and Brian work for a human services organization, People Helping Others (PHO), which focuses on helping individuals with intellectual disabilities. As part of their responsibilities, they help others with training programs, housing placement, and job placement and will be paid based on the number of hours they work with their clients. As a condition of employment, they both signed a confidentiality agreement not to disclose information about their clients to anyone outside the organization as long as they remained employees of PHO. Eventually, Brian resigned from his position to work for another human services organization; however, Melissa and Brian remained good friends and met for the occasional lunch to catch up on one another's personal lives. After some time, Melissa noticed that her clients were "dropping off the planet" as they were not scheduling regular time with her as they had previously. Melissa heard "through the grapevine" that Brian was "poaching" her clients so that he could help them. After some thought, she confronted Brian and spoke to him about what she perceived as his unethical behavior in taking her clients.
