Health Promotion Planning & Evaluation

Imagine that you are one of the community leaders who will be presented with the program plan and budget on Thursday night.

Given your classmate's intended strategy for presenting the plan and budget to you, how would you respond?

What issues did your classmate not anticipate?

As a community leader, how would you recommend the community proceed with the proposed program?

Proposal for Alcohol Program "According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and health reported 15.1 million adults ages 18 and older had Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and estimated 623,000 adolescents ages 12-17 had Alcohol Use Disorder (NIH, 2017)."

These statistics are at an alarming rate and needs immediate attention to help reduce the consumption of this drug which is detrimental to the health of teens and adults.

A community intervention program which would include strategies to help make an environmental change would be to increase community communication and education to change the health behavior. of the community. The primary action to begin the program is to understand the community and the culture to gather information as to the cause of substance abuse.

Objective/Goal: To provide information and ample resources to reduce and improve substance abuse within the community to increase a healthy lifestyle.

Budget for proposed health program Community worksite: $800.00 Community Health and Wellness Forum Fliers and Posters: $250.00 Informational Pamphlets: $250.00 Media: $1000.00 Health Professional as Volunteers to help with meetings/support groups Community Project- painting, gardening, Helping the elders, clean a neighborhood Media informational Resources to educate about the effects of substance abuse: $500.00 (Screen and digital videos)

Extra-curricular activities- Game day/night- board games/ Video consoles: $ 1000.00 Food and Drinks: $350.00 Incentives: care bags, t-shirts, brochures with various activities and health resources: $850.00 Every community deserves the essential tools to help with increasing a better and healthier lifestyle.

As the plan is implemented into the community, it would also be beneficial to have an understanding of the effects. After the implementation I would offer a survey or another open forum to discuss the program and other health issues within the environment.
