Sumika Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death among all Americans and the 3rd leading cause of death among young Americans 15-24.(ADPH). The suicide rate in Alabama in 2015 was 15.4 per 100,000. The suicide rate in America in 2014 was 13.8 in 2014. 93 youth suicides occurred in Alabama in 2015. 78% of them were males. 49.8% of the suicides in America were by gunshot. 78% of the suicides in Alabama were by gunshot.

The disconnect of program to address the needs of suicide and homicide liable persons is an organization al barrier. The problem stems from mental health issues and socioeconomic inequalities. (Burkholder 2013). There a variety of agencies trying to address these problems differently. A financial barrier to care for suicide and homicide liable person is money to fund the needed programs as well as money to attend these program.

A significant number of these programs are financially dependent on private donations and grants. (Burkholder 2012). Community programs which serve suicide and homicide liable persons should be under one umbrella organization. There should be liasons in the criminal justice, education, public health , and wellness(health centers).

These multidisciplinary teams should meet quarterly to ensure they are following the same policies and procedures and to discuss outcomes. These programs should be federally funded and monitored. Private programs should offer a number of scholarships for lower income persons. Quality of Life Health Services offers behavioral health services to underinsured and uninsured patients of all ages and accept Medicaid and Medicare.

They have a school base program which services students at their school. They also offer tele health services for the more rural area. They do not have a residential program or a hotline for emergencies. Mountain View Psychiatric Facility is a residents mental health program. They have on site counseling group therapy, trained staff, recreation programs and include the entire family.

They have all of the tools to assist suicide and homicide liable patients but are a financial barrier to most low income patients.
