I'm writing an essay in A P A format. I am currently working on the paragraph structures only. My question is when do I need to cite a source? I took a series of event out of an article and put the story in my paper to support my thesis. I will copy the portion I wrote and post it here and attach the link where I retrieved the story. I need to know if I need to reference the source and if so where do I insert the in text citation.
Having school resource officers also allow students to form a bond and trust the officer, so a student will feel comfortable reporting a potential violent act or plot. For example, in Coral Springs high school, Florida two teenage girls reported to the local school resource officer a male student possessed a gun. The student was located in the school's cafeteria and tried to run, but was stopped by the officer before he could get away. During a search of the student, the officer found a loaded 9mm handgun in the student's front waistband and a manifesto was found in his backpack. Written in the manifesto was the quote "If you don't know what terror day is it is a mass school shooting that will take place on Jan. 13, 2017," If it had not been for the students feeling comfortable with talking to the school resource officer and the officer's immediate response, this situation could have turned into a violent tragedy!
