Halogen Containing Compounds
Compounds that are derived from hydrocarbons by the replacement of one or more than one hydrogen atoms by the corresponding number of halogen atoms are known as halogen derivatives. Derivatives of the hydrocarbons are widely categorizes into three classes:
1. Halogen derivatives of saturated Alkanes or hydrocarbon or Halo-alkanes
2. Halogen derivatives of unsaturated Alkenes and alkynes or Halo-alkene
3. Halogen derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons or Arenes -Halo-arenes.
