hall effectwhile charged particles pass through a

Hall effect:

While charged particles pass through a tube that has both an electric field & a magnetic field (perpendicular to the electric field) exist in it, only certain velocities of the charged particles are chosen, and will make it undeviated by the tube; the rest will be deflected in the sides. This influence is exploited in such devices as the mass spectrometer and within the Thompson experiment. It is called the Hall effect.
