graffian follicle -it appears as knob or stigma

GRAFFIAN FOLLICLE -

  1. It appears as knob or stigma in medulla. It is round, discovered by Graff.
  2. It is covered by 2 layers - thecae externa & theca interna.
  3. From theca interna estrogen is secreted to control secondary sexual charaters in female.
  4. Inside theca interna, membrana granulosa is present.
  5. Secondary oocyte is attached to covering layer by group of cells i.e. discus proligerous.
  6. The point of discus proligerous close to secondary oocyte is Hill of follicular cells or cumulus oophorus.
  7. Secondary oocyte is covered by zona pellucida (primary egg membrane) and corona radiata (secondary egg memebrane).
  8. Cavity of follicle is antrum of Himor or follicular cavity filled with follicular fluid.
  9. Graffian's follicle is reptured, secondary oocyte come out of ovary from stigma point first in coelome. It is ovulation.
  10. This time L.H. is secreted more.
  11. After rapturing rest part of graffian's follicle which is yellow coloured is known as corpus luteum.
  12. It consists of clotting, fibrin, lutein cells. L.H. is helpful in formation of corpus luteum.
  13. Corpus luteum secretes progesteron & relaxin.
  14. Progesteron is helpful in implantation, to stop ovulation during gestation period.
  15. Relaxin is helpful to relax pelvic muscles during parturition.
  16. If fertilisation occurs then corpus luteum varium is used.
  17. If not then corpus luteum sporerum is used.
  18. After formation of placenta, corpus luteum is degenerated and converted into white scar corpus albicanse.
