Go to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and do some research on how the unemployment rate is measured in the U.S. Do you think that it is an accurate or inaccurate measure?
Next, watch these videos: Defining the UE Rate, Is UE Undercounted?, Structural UE and finally, Missing Men and the Future for Women. Please make comments in these videos, with special attention to the last one, at it is arguing a particular viewpoint. What are the main points raised in the video? Do you agree or disagree? What are your thoughts on how the labor force looks in the U.S.? You can either discuss this issue from a more abstract, general level, or you can look at a particular industry (e.g., your own industry of employment).
