This is a short essay response to the ideas represented by Deepak Lal in "Globalization, Imperialism, and Regulation". It gives an overview of Lal's assertions and the grounds on which to challenge these. Key ideas comprise globalization as a purely economic occurrence, imperialism, deregulation, American hegemony and what Lal calls moral hazard.
